SUMMER ARTS WORKSHOPS

Act Out is proud to offer our summer arts workshops to aspiring artists of all ages. New workshops
in a variety of disciplines will be offered Monday-Thursday each week beginning July 10. Several workshops will be repeated throughout the summer so there are numerous opportunities to participate based on your family's schedule. Please pay close attention to the times and age ranges for each workshop and be certain to register for the correct class. You may register for as many workshops as you'd like on the
REGISTRATION page. **Snacks will be provided for those attending workshops from 8AM-12PM. All workshops are led by instructors who are professionals in their art discipline and are designed to give each participant the highest quality instruction.

 

Following registration, you will receive an email with additional information about your specific workshop. All workshops will be help at the Salvation Army Community Center,

**EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT** If you register before July 4 you will receive $25 off each class!

After July 4, the regular price is reflected in the description below.

We also have a limited number of financial assistance discounts that we can provide based on your household income. Fill out a simple application by clicking the Financial Assistance button BEFORE registering for a workshop.

**If minimum capacity is not reached the workshop will be cancelled and you'll be issued a full refund.

WORKSHOP 1: 8AM-10AM–Musical Theater (ages 7-12)

This fun-filled musical theater class engages students in the creative process, while giving them foundational skills in singing, acting, and dancing.

 

WORKSHOP 2: 8AM-10AM–Acting (ages 13-21)

$150

This imaginative course introduces the art of acting and familiarizes students with the fundamentals of both rehearsal and performance.

 

WORKSHOP 3: 10AM-12PM–Musical Theater (ages 13-21) $150

WORKSHOP 1: 8AM-10AM–Acting (ages 7-12)

This imaginative course introduces the art of acting and familiarizes students with the fundamentals of both rehearsal and performance.

 

WORKSHOP 2: 8AM-10AM–Improv (ages 13-18)

$150

You will learn the core principles of improv, focusing on various games and exercises that encourage trust, communication, listening, and character.

 

WORKSHOP 3: 10AM-12PM–Stage Combat (ages 13-21)

$175

In this class students learn the basics in the mechanics of conflict and acting it truthfully. Emphasis will be on safety and the necessary skills pertaining to unarmed combat and basic weapons skills.

In this beginning/intermediate level course students work with instructors to improve their solo singing technique, musicianship, movement, and more.

WORKSHOP 3: 10AM-12PM–Photography (ages 13-21)

This beginner digital photography course is meant to help you master your digital camera. You will also be introduced to photography fundamentals such as lighting and composition.

This imaginative course introduces the art of acting and familiarizes students with the fundamentals of both rehearsal and performance.

 

WORKSHOP 2: 8AM-10AM–Stage Make-up (ages 10+)

$175

In this fun-filled course, you'll learn the basics of stage make-up such as matching skin tone, highlight and shadow, blending and special effects.

 

WORKSHOP 3: 10AM-12PM–Acting (ages 13-21)

$150

This imaginative course introduces the art of acting and familiarizes students with the fundamentals of both rehearsal and performance.

 

WORKSHOP 4: 10AM-12PM–Creative Writing 1 (ages 13-21)

$150

This program will foster your love of writing in a variety of mediums. Find your voice writing short stories, poetry, scripts and more! You will also have the option to continue developing your skills in Creative Writing 2 on Week 5.

Painting

This fast-paced workshop is a drawing and painting class that explores the basic elements of design, color theory and art studies.

 

WORKSHOP 2: 10AM-12AM–Visual Arts (ages 13-21)

This fast-paced workshop is a drawing and painting class that explores the basic elements of design, color theory and art studies.

 

WORKSHOP 3: 10AM-12PM–Creative Writing 2 (ages 13-21)

$150

This program is a continuation of Creative Writing 1 BUT can be taken independently. You will continue to develop your writing skills across a variety of genres.

WEEK 6–August 14-17

This fun-filled musical theater class engages students in the creative process, while giving them foundational skills in singing, acting, and dancing.

 

WORKSHOP 2: 10AM-12PM–Video Production 1 (ages 13-21)

$150

In this course, you will learn various aspects of video production including storytelling, film aesthetics, digital camera function and video editing. This class will focus more on the production aspects while Video Production 2 will focus more  on the post-production aspects.

WEEK 7–August 21-24

Behind the Scenes
Video Editors

WORKSHOP 1: 8AM-10AM–Acting for the Camera

(ages 10+) $150

This fun-filled musical theater class engages students in the creative process, while giving them foundational skills in singing, acting, and dancing.

WORKSHOP 2: 10AM-12PM–Video Production 2 (ages 13-21)

$150

This course is a continuation of Video Production 1 and will focus more on the post-production aspects of filmmaking including the use of Adobe Premiere as students edit footage shot the previous week.

SATURDAYS ONLY–July 15-August 19 (six workshops)

WORKSHOP 1: 9AM-11AM–Stage Acting for Adults

(ages 21+) $225

The great actors of every day had to start somewhere. It’s time for YOU to begin your journey! Always wanted to act, but were too nervous or unsure of where to begin? Now is your chance to explore new techniques and enhance your skills in a comfortable and relaxed setting with other adults! Through theatre games, acting exercises, and scene work, you will gain confidence and an enriched understanding of the craft. Learn the vocabulary and techniques that every actor must know while meeting new people along the way! This is a beginner/intermediate level workshop.
