SUMMER ARTS WORKSHOPS
This summer, we are pleased to offer fun and rewarding classes to aspiring young artists of all levels. Whether you are looking to try a new art form or build upon prior skills, our classes will provide participants ages 7-17 a chance to develop important fundamentals across a variety of arts disciplines. Located at our Signal Hill headquarters (3299 Walnut Ave. Signal Hill, 90755), these classes include One-Week Arts Intensives and a Five-Week Arts Camp with the Arts Camp culminating in a student showcase opportunity. REGISTRATION: Registration will open on March 1, 2025 and is open to anyone ages 7-17. If you are an Act Out Alumni outside of this age range, please contact us if you are interested in a class. A 10% discount will be provided to any Act Out Alumni, please contact us for a discount code. Early bird discounts will be available as well as a 10% discount for students at our partner school sites (Hoover MS, Hamilton MS, IVA, Mayfair, Los Cerritos Elementary and Riley Elementary). Registration will close 1-week prior to the beginning of each class and space is limited.

LUNCH: As our classes run from 9AM to 1PM, we strongly encourage participants to pack a lunch. We will have light snacks available and give students a short break to enjoy their lunch. Participants are also encouraged to bring water.

ATTIRE: Participants are expected to wear attire appropriate for movement, stretching, dance, etc. Midriffs, short shorts, skirts, sandals/flip flops, etc. are discouraged.
​
SCHOLARSHIPS: We offer scholarships on a financial-need basis. Scholarships and financial assistance are offered as space and enrollment allow. If you believe you may qualify, please fill out the Financial Assistance Application by clicking the button below.

EARLY BIRD PRICING: We offer early bird pricing for all participants who register from March 1-May 1, 2025. All early bird prices can be found in the class descriptions below.

CANCELED CLASS: A class may be canceled if the minimum enrollment is not reached up to three (3) business days before the start of the class. In this event, you may request a transfer to a different class or request a full refund.

REFUNDS: Refunds can be requested prior to the start date of the class but due to the limited number of spaces available in our classes there will be a $50 per class drop fee. No refunds will be issued after the start date of the class. REFUND POLICIES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

BROADWAY BOUND
Theatre Arts Camp
June 30-July 31, 2025
This five-week course will introduce participants to a wide variety of the fundamental principles of theatrical arts. With a focus on different aspects each week, professional instructors from numerous disciplines will teach participants about acting, character analysis, emotional exercise, storytelling, video production, creative writing, movement, stage combat, singing, and more. Participants will gain hands-on experience through theatre games, exercises, and numerous performance opportunities. Week 5 will be dedicated to putting all the parts together in a final showcase performance for friends and family to come and enjoy. You can read a detailed description of each week’s activities below. Whether you are new to the theatre or have lots of experience, our curriculum is comprehensive and accessible. Participants are welcome to join us for these five weeks of creative enrichment, performances, and fun!

WEEK 1
CENTER STAGE: Introduction to Theatre
June 30-July 3, 2025

This first week introduces students to the art of acting and acquaints them with the fundamentals of rehearsal and performance. Students participate in a variety of exercises, improvisations, scene work, and games that help them build their confidence and have fun.

WEEK 2
STAGE CRAFT: The Art of Storytelling July 7-10, 2025

This engaging class introduces students to the foundational elements of storytelling and the creative process. Students will learn about proper storytelling devices and develop their own creative voices through story writing, character development, costuming, and stage make-up.

WEEK 3
VIDEO PRODUCTION & ACTING FOR THE CAMERA
July 14–17, 2025

This fun-filled class video production camp encourages students to be creative and make their own short film, including: camera basics, shooting, editing, and acting for the screen. It is highly recommended (but not necessary) that participants attend the previous week’s theatre and storytelling workshops as they will have the opportunity to use their new acting, storytelling, improv, costuming, and makeup skills in this make-a-movie camp.

WEEK 4
LIGHTS UP: The Art of Musical Theatre
July 21-24, 2025

This immersive musical theater workshop combines the artistry of dance, the physicality of stage combat, and the dramatic flair of musical theater. Designed for performers of all levels, participants will explore both the fundamentals and advanced techniques of choreography, singing, and stage combat will help enhance students’ ability to tell a story through movement and action.

WEEK 5
PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE
July 28–31, 2025

This final week engages students in the creative process and allows them to use their skills in acting, singing, and dance. Students learn to find their voice and hone their skills in character development, storytelling, team building, and creative expression through several exercises that act as a culmination for everything participants learned in summer camp. The goal is to create a final performance for friends and family to enjoy on the evening of Thursday, July 31.
